THE LEGEND OF PEGASUS: A JOURNEY ALONG THE Lycian Way
This journey along Turkey’s Eastern Lycian Way brings myth and history to life, inspired by Pegasus - the winged horse of Greek mythology. Over 5 riding days, you’ll cover around 150 km of breathtaking coastline, forest trails, and mountain paths once walked by ancient Lycians, Persians, and Romans.
You’ll ride sure-footed, spirited Arab horses - trained for stamina, speed, and mountain terrain - who carry you beyond the reach of ordinary trekkers. Each day brings a new rhythm: steady climbs, open canters, and peaceful forest tracks. Along the way you’ll pass 2,000-year-old tombs, ancient castles, and remote trails where myth still lingers in the air. This is not just a ride - it’s a living connection to the past, told from the saddle.

31 October - 6 November 2026
During the ride, five nights are hosted in traditional local guest houses, where you’ll experience authentic Lycian hospitality and regional home-cooked meals. One night is dedicated to camping on a wild beach - sleeping in tents just steps from the sea, under the open sky. The first two nights and the final night are spent in the same countryside residence, providing a stable base before and after the trail.
Day 1: Arrival in Kemer Arrival at Antalya Airport and transfer to our hosts' countryside residence near Kemer. Time to check in, rest, and stretch your legs with a walk through the lively seaside town of Kemer. No riding today - just relaxation and a first taste of the Mediterranean atmosphere.
Day 2: Kuzdere’s Hidden Trails & Welcome Dinner After breakfast, transfer to the stables and meet your horses. Following safety instructions, brushing, and saddling-up, we’ll head out for a 2-hour ride through the forests of Kuzdere. Orange and pomegranate gardens, an ancient village, natural springs, and a palm grove line the trail. This warm-up ride allows us to match riders with the right horses. The afternoon is free to relax by the pool or beach, before we gather for a welcome dinner and a magical evening visit to the eternal flames of Mount Chimera. Pace: walk, trot, canter.
Day 3: Canyon Waters & Gedelma Village Stay The trail begins in earnest. After 1.5–2 hours of riding, we reach a beautiful canyon with a mountain river - perfect for a refreshing swim and photos. From here, we climb the mighty Tahtalı Dağı (Mount Olympos, 2,365 m). The ride takes us up perfect trotting and cantering paths until we arrive at Gedelma, home to ancient castle ruins, caves, and a 2,500-year-old tree. Tonight, we stay in a 150-year-old family house, experiencing authentic Turkish village life. Pace: walk, trot, canter.
Day 4: Touching the Sky in Beycik After breakfast and tending to our horses, we climb again to almost 2,000 m. The air cools as we reach the cloud line, riding through treeless, otherworldly landscapes. Later, we descend towards Beycik, a mountain village with sweeping sea views. Here we rest, shower, and enjoy a hearty dinner in a guest house. Pace: walk, trot, short gallops.
Day 5: From Mountains to the Sea – Beach Camp A full riding day (6–7 hours) as we descend to the coast. The trail winds past wild bays and pristine nature until we reach a protected turtle bay, accessible only to backpackers and riders. Tonight, we camp on the beach in prepared tents, with dinner by the fire. Riders can swim with or without their horses - an unforgettable highlight. Pace: walk, trot, canter on the beach.
Day 6: Ancient Phaselis & Return to Tekirova Our final trail day leads across five stunning bays before reaching the 2,000-year-old ruins of the ancient city of Phaselis. Here, we dismount and walk with our horses along narrow, rocky paths. After a picnic lunch among the ruins, we return to the ranch with long trots and canters through Tekirova’s countryside. Pace: walk, trot, canter.
Day 7: Departure After breakfast, we say goodbye to horses and hosts. Transfer to Antalya Airport with a possible stop for souvenirs along the way.

The Rider This trail is designed for experienced riders with solid trail experience and good physical fitness. You should be confident at all paces – walk, trot, and canter – and able to saddle and handle your own horse. Expect 4–6 hours in the saddle per day across six consecutive riding days. The pace alternates between steady climbs through forests and rocky mountain paths, and long, liberating canters along ridges and beaches. Flexibility is key, as the program may be adjusted to seasonal weather or group preferences, with opportunities to linger at the most beautiful locations. Rider weight limit is 75–80 kg (165–176 lbs), with heavier riders accepted only upon prior arrangement and extra charge for a horse change.
Horses You’ll ride Arab and cross-bred horses – spirited, tough, and perfectly suited for endurance riding in mountain and coastal terrain. Sure-footed and resilient, they are accustomed to rocky ascents, forest tracks, and sandy stretches. Tack is functional and comfortable, with English multipurpose and jumping saddles adapted for trail conditions. Saddle bags for water are provided, and luggage is transferred separately, allowing you to ride light and free.
Route Over 6 riding days, you’ll cover approximately 150 km of the Eastern Lycian Way - one of the world’s most scenic long-distance trails. Each day brings new terrain: forest paths, mountain ridges, ancient ruins, hidden bays, and wild beaches. The highlight is camping by the sea after a full day’s descent from the mountains, with the chance to swim with your horse in turquoise waters. Expect 40% walking, 30% trotting, and 30% cantering, with sections that test both rider and horse – from narrow rocky tracks where you’ll walk beside your mount, to long open stretches designed for exhilarating gallops.
