The Rider This expedition is designed for riders with solid trail-riding experience and good physical fitness. You must be confident and in control at walk, trot, and canter in open country, and comfortable spending several hours a day in the saddle over desert and coastal terrain. The horses are spirited, responsive, and forward-going - perfect for those who enjoy an active pace. Riders should be prepared for 6 consecutive riding days, flexible enough to adapt to heat, sand, and changing desert conditions. Riding is English-style, with mostly general-purpose English trail saddles, and saddle bags are provided. Helmets are available on request.
Horses You’ll be riding the most authentic Arabian horses of Egypt - strong, fast, and elegant - famed for their endurance and beauty. These horses are bred for the desert: sure-footed on shifting sands, responsive to their riders, and full of spirit. They are fit, forward, and fun to ride, making them ideal companions for long canters across open plains and unforgettable swims in the Red Sea. There will be lots of opportunity for fast gallops - so come prepared! Horses are ridden English style, and there is a 90 kg weight limit (including riding gear).
Route You’ll cover approximately 110–130 km over 6–7 riding days, with 2–6 hours in the saddle daily. The route takes you from the Pyramids of Giza to the surreal chalk landscapes of the White Desert, across volcanic hills in the Black Desert, and finally to the turquoise waters of Dahab on the Red Sea. Rides vary from long desert trails with opportunities for canter, to coastal tracks where horses can swim in the lagoon, offering a diverse and exhilarating experience.
