THE LAST WINTER SHEPHERDS

KYRGYZSTAN WINTER EXPEDITION
Far beyond the familiar routes of Kyrgyzstan, beneath the towering peak of Khan Tengri and close to the point where Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and China meet, lies a world almost untouched by modern life. In winter, this remote corner of the Tian Shan becomes even more powerful - frozen rivers, abandoned Soviet roads, immense snow-covered valleys and isolated shepherd families caring for their yaks through the harshest months of the year
A true expedition combining horseback travel and 4x4 exploration through some of the country’s most inaccessible terrain. We ride with a traditional eagle hunter, cross mountain passes above 4,000 metres, follow forgotten mining tracks beneath peaks rising over 6,000 and 7,000 metres, and spend several nights in shepherds’ wagons and remote mountain shelters. Along the way, we join the shepherds in their daily work, help gather the yaks and ride towards the glacier through a landscape where wolves and snow leopards still roam.
This exclusive itinerary has been created especially for Bronco riders and is not offered as a standard commercial tour. It reflects the true spirit of Bronco: exploring beyond established routes, working closely with local horsemen and reaching places where very few travellers have ever been.
