Classic Wool Vest

More than simply clothing, these garments reflected a person's identity, origin, age, and social status, while embroidered motifs were believed to offer protection, prosperity, and good fortune.
The wool vest (elek) was one of the most recognizable pieces of traditional attire. Worn by both men and women, it provided warmth during everyday work while also serving as an elegant outer garment for celebrations and special occasions. Each vest was handcrafted from natural wool and decorated with elaborate ornamentation that showcased the exceptional skill of local artisans.
One of the defining decorative elements is gaytan - a traditional technique that uses hand-braided wool cords carefully stitched onto the fabric to create flowing patterns, floral motifs, and geometric designs.
